Peer Coaching Scholarship and Practice

Join the College of Business and Management for an interactive session will review peer coaching. First, the definition, skills, and behaviors of peer coaching and its use in the business context will be examined. Next, a roadmap for peer coaching will be shared, including an overview of how instructors can implement a peer coaching initiative into their classroom. Following, breakout sessions will allow attendees to practice key coaching skills. Finally, participants will reflect on the pros and cons of peer coaching, and how it can be implemented in various classroom contexts in a large group discussion.

Marcia Hagen is a professor of Management and DBA director at Metro State University. She holds a PhD in Human Resource Development from the University of Minnesota. Her research focus includes peer and managerial coaching, change management, and applying interventions to organizational development. She has published papers in Human Resource Development Quarterly, Performance Improvement Quarterly, and Quality Management Journal, among others. She is on the editorial boards of Human Resource Development Quarterly and Human Resource Development Review journals.

Erica Berte is an associate professor of Management at Metro State University. She holds a PhD in Management from the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Her primary research interest focuses on small business strategy, specifically topics related to their global strategy and business model innovation; however, themes related to innovation management and Social Corporate Responsibility (SCR) have been developed, too. Other research streams are in the pedagogical field, focusing on Management Education and case studies in which she has delivered numerous workshops at conferences or by invitation. Her most recent publications were in the R&D Management Journal, the Journal of Management Education, and the Case Research Journal.

Lunch and Learn is part of an ongoing monthly series of presentations and discussions hosted by the College of Business and Management. This conversation is open to all educators, administrators, instructional designers, and students of the Minnesota State Education System.
