We’re excited that First Saturday Science has returned to in-person activities, after offering only virtual content for the past two years!

Kids of all ages are invited to explore science with fun laboratory experiments and hands-on activities! This month is all about the BIOSPHERE: the entire region of the Earth—on the ground and in the air—where organisms live.

Have you ever wondered how cacti (more than one cactus) survive in hot climates, or how other plants can live and grow in a frozen tundra? Bring the little scientists in your life to discover how plants are such an important part of the biosphere, and learn how to make your very own ecosystem in a bottle!

First Saturday Science is free and open to the public, and ideal for youth ages 6 to 12. Co-sponsored by Metro State University's College of Sciences and Institute for Community Engagement and Scholarship. To join the First Saturday Science monthly email list, contact MJ Mika.

A video of our activity, "How to Make Your Own Ecosystem in a Bottle!" will be available on the Institute's YouTube channel.
