The community is invited to attend the Trauma Informed Practices event, which directly address areas that may be "triggers" for populations coming from recent experiences globally. In urban settings, what may be seen as daily engagements or even more private matters, are actually the reasons behind students' behaviors both in and out of classrooms. This informative work takes a hands-on and inclusive approach, and builds on relationship development between families, professionals and those needing support.

Trauma Informed Practices presenters will include:

  • Joseph Meyer (MASW, ACSW, LCSW, CST-T), certified sandplay therapist and licensed clinical social worker
  • Yvonne RB-Banks, School of Urban Education professor at Metropolitan State University

The topic is of national and local importance, especially as mental health in America continues to be a studied. This event is free and open to anyone interested in learning more about trauma and working with urban learners. Please RSVP by March 20.
