First Saturday Science

The First Saturday Science workshops cover a wide range of diverse science topics to engage and teach youth and to encourage the scientific method in the workshops. The workshops are led and planned by university student workers, university STEM students, interns from the Science Museum of Minnesota, faculty, staff, and other community partners. All workshops are free.

Program objectives

  1. To provide a safe space where youth can work with university students, faculty, and staff to explore science topics and experiments.
  2. The program will have a dedicated university coordinator that plans and works with community partners, faculty, staff, and university students to deliver a reputable program to local youth.
  3. Introduce youth to the culture of science and encourage the scientific method in all of the workshops.
