Interlibrary Loan

If you are looking for an item and Metro State University’s library does not have it, you can request it through interlibrary loan (ILL), by which we borrow a copy from another library for you to use. ILL is a free service provided to current students, staff, faculty, and alumni.

We might have it!

To check our access or ownership of articles, books, or videos, search the titles in OneSearch.

Submit your request

Use this request form, and select “article” to request articles from journals, or select “book” for a book or video.

Receiving your items

Delivery times vary, but a typical wait time for articles is 2-5 business days and 5-14 business days for books. Digital copies will be available via a link or attachment in an email to your Metro State account. Physical items need to be picked up at the St. Paul campus library.

Please be sure to check your university email account for your notice, as the item will be available for a limited time.

Please note that we do not fulfill interlibrary loan requests for textbooks, ebooks, or popular audiovisual items.

Renewals and overdue items

Due dates are established by the lending library, and will vary.

To request renewal of an item, see the Checkouts and Renewals page.

For overdue and lost item policy, see Loan Policies.
