Feb. 6: Increasing Teacher Diversity in Minnesota

Metropolitan State is co-sponsoring Increasing Teacher Diversity in Minnesota: An Ongoing Community Conversation and Call to Action. The event is 9:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 6 at Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC), 1501 Hennepin Avenue, Minneapolis.

Join policy makers, community-based organization leaders, students, school administrators, teachers and teacher educators, philanthropists and others to make action plans for change. Topics include:

  • Eliminating discriminatory teacher testing requirements
  • Providing scholarship incentives and student teaching stipends
  • Providing induction and retention support
  • Offering loan forgiveness for teaching service
