July 9-10: Dragon Boat Festival 2016

The annual Dragon Boat Festival  is 10 a.m.–5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, July 9–10 at Lake Phalen, 1530 Phalen Drive, Saint Paul. On Sunday from 9 a.m.–5 p.m., the Asian Student Organization (ASO) will compete in the boat race and the teams needs Mighty Metro paddlers.

Join the ASO team in the celebration of the annual Dragon Boat Festival and be loud and proud as Metropolitan State is the only higher education institution to participate in the race in past years. The Mighty Metros have taken home the Best Team Spirit Award for the last three years and need help to bring home the 2016 trophy.

Students are given first priority as race participants but staff and faculty are also welcome. The team needs one flag catcher, one drummer and 18 paddlers. If interested, contact Mandy Vue, ASO president, at vr9818as@metrostate.edu to reserve your seat. Team shirts, lunch and beverages are provided for team members.

Bring your family and friends to enjoy the festival on both days. The event is free and there are arts and crafts, vendors, food, performances and entertainment. For more information about the festival, visit www.dragonfestival.org.
