May 5: Cinco de Mayo Parade

Come and celebrate! Each year Metropolitan State University staff, faculty and students participate in the West Saint Paul Cinco de Mayo parade.  Participating in the Cinco de Mayo parade is important because it makes the university’s presence known in the Latino community, as “The Latino community is welcome at Metro State.”

When: Saturday, May 5. Participants meet at 9 a.m., The parade starts at 10 a.m. Lineup will occur on Humboldt Avenue between Elizabeth Street and Cesar Chavez Street. Metropolitan State University is designated as lineup unit #22

Check-in information for walking units and walkers:

  • Parking: It is highly encouraged that people carpool, as there will be limited parking on side streets neighboring Humboldt Avenue.
  • There will be a block captain wearing an orange volunteer T-shirt who will assist units checking in and lining up in the designated areas.
  • The parade route has been altered due to the rockslide on Wabasha Street.
