Metropolitan State faculty adds honors

Associate Professor Dr. Rose Chu and Dr. Nicholas Hartlep of the Urban Education Department were recognized with awards this past week.

Chu was named to the “50 Over 50” list, recognized by AARP Minnesota and Pollen, for her tireless work across numerous community-based initiatives spanning more than 20 years. The award was conferred at an event, Oct. 13 at  the Machine Shop in Minneapolis.

Wy Spano, director of the Master of Advocacy and Political Leadership ( MAPL) Program, College of Management, was also recognized on the “50 over 50” list.

Hartlep received the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Alumni Association Graduate Gold Award in Milwaukee for his work with children and youth of color and documenting their schooling experiences in educational research.
