Metropolitan State ranks 6th safest campus in Minnesota

A list recently published by, ranks Metropolitan State University 16th of the 50 safest colleges in America. Metropolitan State also scored sixth of the 30 safest colleges in Minnesota. The only other Minnesota college on the national list was Winona State University, ranked 42.

Typically the assessments take into account the number of safety officers, security cameras, security programs and procedures, and overall incident statistics.

“I am pleased that our team effort has proven successful in creating a safe environment for students, employees and guests,” said Thomas Maida, director of Safety and Security, Metropolitan State University.

Maida credits a team effort by all members of his security team, as well as safety conferences and networking for this achievement.
