The Midway Chamber of Commerce is looking for student participation at its 4th Annual Midway Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Summit & Luncheon.

The Economic Development Committee encourages and guides economic development in the Midway neighborhood through advocacy, policy and program development, support for existing business and recruitment of new business. The event includes a mayoral forum, breakout sessions on topics important to the business community in the Midway neighborhood and keynote presentation over lunch.

The planning committee is seeking students to volunteer and to take notes on the conversation during during breakout sessions. In return, the students will receive a free ticket to attend the event. This opportunity is for students looking to network with the local business community, in ways whi ch could lead to learning about local companies and non-profits, and building your network of professional connections. Breakout session topics will include a 21st Century workforce, pitching stories to the media, and the future of the Midway neighborhood.

This year’s theme is Driving Growth in the Midway: People, Place, Partnership and Prosperity. The summit is an extension of Metropolitan State’s Economic Development Committee held in conjunction with our monthly membership luncheon.

The summit is open to Chamber membership and the public, and will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at the University of St. Thomas.
