The 2016 Great Paper Airplane Contest

Fold your best paper airplane and launch it off of the Great Hall balcony in the 2016 Great Paper Airplane Contest. The event is 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 20, New Main, Great Hall, Saint Paul Campus.

Anyone can participate as an individual or in teams of three. The team competition begins at 11:30 a.m. Teams must be from the same department, college or organization but more than one team can represent each. Each member of the team is allowed three throws and the furthest throw from each member is combined for a team total. The team with the furthest total distance wins.

Open competition begins at noon and is open to anyone affiliated with Metropolitan State including students, faculty, staff, administration and family members. Each person is allowed three throws and the furthest distance wins.

Participants are encouraged to bring a plane for each of their throws. Planes must be folded from standard 8.5 x 11″ copier paper with no cuts or add-ons (tape, paperclips, etc.). Team members  may not compete in open competition.

Three prizes are awarded for the longest throws. 1st prize is a $25 bookstore credit, 2nd prize is a $15 bookstore credit and 3rd prize is a $10 bookstore credit.
