Theater program holds auditions for new student plays

Each fall brings new plays to Metropolitan State University and each play will be holding auditions to feel the roles.  Performances will take place Nov 9-12, 2016. Credit can potentially be earned for participation in Metro’s Theater Productions on and off stage. Eight men and three women are needed to fill the roles.

The productions are:

DREAM DIG

The opportunity to join an archaeological dig provides the incentive of a lifetime for a bright, energetic and slightly unscrupulous young college man.  But first he must earn the additional money to study abroad.  Where he ultimately ends up might just surprise you in this engaging comedy filled with hilarious characters and zany situations.

A smug and arrogant, self-possessed young man, arrested for several hard core drug violations, is thrown into jail certain he can “beat the rap”.  As friends and family fail him, he comes to depend on several of his newly acquired inmate friends found behind bars.  Will he succeed or will he fail?  A penetrating look at this country’s justice system as seen from within.

Audition times will be:

Tuesday, Aug. 30, 4:30–8 pm

Wednesday, Aug. 31, 3–7 pm

Thursday, Sept. 1, 5–8 pm; callbacks if necessary

All ages and races are encouraged to audition.

No preparation necessary. Come and read from the script.

Auditions will be in the Stagedoor Theater in the Whitney Fine Arts Center at the MCTC/Metropolitan State Minneapolis Campus off Loring Park.  Rehearsals will be held evenings and will accommodate your academic schedule.
