WEQY seeks students for East Side Community Radio

Would you like to make a difference in the East Side community while gaining valuable communications experience? WEQY seeks Metropolitan State students who live in or around the East Side of Saint Paul to volunteer as on-air hosts and program producers.

Joe Kuzelka

Leading the push for neighborhood focused programming is Joe Kuzelka, an East Side native and recent graduate of the University of Minnesota. “The great thing about community radio is that anybody can be on it,” said Kuzelka. “It offers young people a chance to speak their minds.”

Volunteers will work with Kuzelka and WEQY staff to develop bi-weekly programming on topics such as:

  • Local nonprofits
  • Neighborhood news
  • Community engagement
  • Diversity
  • Violence in the community
  • Schools in the area
  • News targeted at youth

Volunteers gain valuable skills in communication, broadcasting and multimedia. Training is provided and no experience is required. For more information and to get involved, contact Joe Kuzelka at josephkuzelka@gmail.com.
