On Friday, February 3, the Metro State University dental therapy clinic hosted its fifth Give Kids A Smile event. During these events our Advanced Dental Therapy ADT students and volunteers provide free dental care for children in need. The care provided includes: cleanings, exams, x-rays, fluoride treatments, sealants, fillings, extractions and stainless steel crowns. For our most recent event, we provided free dental care to 25 children with a market value of $18,072. During the past five events we have been able to serve 116 children and provide care with a market value of more than $80,000. Thank you to our clinical staff, instructors, students, and volunteers who have consistently made these events successful. The care provided has improved the health of children in our community, many of whom do not have dental insurance. We have also dramatically increased the number of children seen in our clinic, improving the clinical experiences our ADT students receive.
