Sarah Zafar of Oakdale has been selected a spring semester Outstanding Student at Metropolitan State University.
Zafar is one of 10 Metropolitan State students recognized at the President’s Outstanding Student Award Reception on May 1, 2021. President’s Outstanding Student Award recipients are nominated by their professors and advisers and selected based on their academic excellence, community service, academic innovation in the educational program and professional achievement.
Zafar graduates with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and was chosen the Outstanding Student for the university’s College of Community Studies and Public Affairs. She is one of 1,018 students receiving bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees at Metropolitan State’s 108th commencement exercises, which will be celebrated with an online ceremony on May 8, 2021.

Students completing the BA in psychology at Metropolitan State are prepared for careers in many diverse areas including management, social services, research, non-profit organizations, mental health, rehabilitation, public service, prevention, community service, consulting, recreation/activities, sales, and many other areas. Students are also prepared to pursue masters and doctoral study in professional areas such as counseling, clinical social work, research psychology, higher education, psychotherapy and psychological services.
