The Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) is a fragrance-free environment.
Cologne, perfume, scented lotions, and other chemical fragrances can make some people sick, especially those with asthma, chemical sensitivities or allergies, or other respiratory ailments. Please refrain from wearing/using fragrances when you're at any of our Tutoring or Testing Center locations.
The Type of Service We Provide
The Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) partners with the Information and Computer Science (ICS) department to provide tutoring in Computer Science. Our ICS tutors hold tutoring hours with both the CAE and ICS departments, and provide support for future computer scientists at Metropolitan State University.
Our ICS tutors help students:
Navigate conceptual difficulties
Develop robust coding techniques
Practice error handling and debugging strategies
With MIS-100 and MIS-328
Our ICS tutors refrain from:
Writing code for the student
Providing primary instruction
Advising students on their academic journey
The goal of our ICS tutors is to help students become independent and responsible for their learning. We want students and instructors to have confidence that the work students submit after tutorials arises from their own efforts and reflects their own understanding of the material.
Appointments are available for individual help with specific questions. We prefer that you make appointments at least 24 hours in advance if possible
We offer assistance in a variety of courses: ICS-100, ICS-120, ICS-125, ICS-140, ICS-141, ICS-240, ICS-225, ICS-232, ICS-311, ICS-340, MIS-100, and MIS-328.
We allow students a maximum of one ICS tutorial per course per day
