What can I do with my ID?

  • With a Metropolitan State University identification card (ID) you can:
  • Check out library books from the Metropolitan State Library
  • Check out library books from any Minnesota State library
  • Access parking and other university facilities

Getting an ID in St. Paul

Your Metropolitan State University ID can be obtained at the Circulation Desk on the second floor of the St. Paul campus Library and Learning Center during the hours that the library is open, including evenings and weekends.

You will need to show a valid, government-issued photo ID (like a driver's license or passport) in order to receive a card. We will take your photograph and print your ID in a few minutes.

Getting an ID by Mail

If you are unable to obtain your ID in person, you may apply by mail.

You must send:

  • A color photo of yourself (preferably wallet-sized). 
  • Photocopy of your Minnesota driver's license or equivalent. 
  • Your 8-digit student ID number or the last 4 digits of your Social Security number.

Getting an ID by Email

Students can also request an ID by emailing the items listed in the “getting an ID by mail” section above along with a current mailing address to library.circulation@metrostate.edu. The ID will be sent by mail to the address provided.

Please allow 7 - 10 days for mailing and processing.
