What We Do

Career Center helps students develop their career skills by providing tools and guidance, and creating opportunities. Career Center can support you as you choose a goal, create a career plan, and master tools to manage your career development.

Handshake

Handshake is Metro State’s online job board and career management platform that connects students to employers. Build your profile and make it visible to those companies that have connected with us.

Candid Career

Candid Career is a way to explore careers, similar to YouTube. Candid Career provides a storehouse of thousands of 1–3 minute video informational interviews with professionals in a wide variety of careers and backgrounds.

Focus2

FOCUS 2 guides you through a career decision making model to help you choose a major and explore occupations. Take the Work Interest assessment to match your interests directly to our majors. Access code: METRO

LinkedIn

Career Center’s LinkedIn Group, called “Metropolitan State University Career Center” is our online forum for employers, students, and alumni to keep in touch with the Career Center and each other. Completing your LinkedIn profile will help connect you with opportunities.

What Can I Do With This Major

“What Can I Do With This Major?” (WCIDWTM) helps you learn about different majors and their typical career paths. Use WCIDWTM’s information sheets on hundreds of academic majors to see outlines of common career areas, typical employers, and strategies designed to maximize career opportunities.

Where We Are

The Career Center is located on the first floor of Founders Hall on the main St. Paul campus. Our Minneapolis location is not always staffed, but if you schedule an appointment at the location, you'll meet in the Management Education Center M1021.
