Once you have been admitted to a certificate or graduate program, you are assigned a faculty advisor. In matters where the permission of your school or college is needed, your academic advisor is the person to consult. Prior to admission, you may consult with the College of Management Director of Graduate Programs or the admissions advisor. If you wish to change your advisor, contact the College of Management Graduate Program Office.
Faculty Advisor's Role and Responsibilities:
Within the College of Management graduate programs, resident faculty provide all advising support and guidance. Specific responsibilities include:
Provide accurate and timely information about program requirements
Offer support and encouragement
Address student complaints appropriately
Document agreements reached with the student
Provide advice on the scope and content of master's papers
Review final draft of master's papers
Maintain appropriate professional boundaries
The advisee has the major responsibility of understanding and meeting all program requirements. Specific responsibilities include:
Adhere to program requirements and course pre-requisites.
Consult with advisor as needed.
Establish with faculty advisor how the advisor will be involved in the master's paper/writing portfolio process.
Become aware of and adhere to all rules and requirements which affect coursework, master's paper and graduation.
Provide at least one month for faculty advisor to review drafts of master's paper.
