The Master of Science in Advanced Dental Therapy program prepares licensed dental hygienists for advanced practice and to enhance the oral health of underserved and diverse populations. The program provides individuals who have a baccalaureate degree and wish to become an advanced dental therapists with the theoretical and applied skills needed to be eligible for licensure as a dental therapist and credentialing as an advanced dental therapist in the state of Minnesota.
This is an innovative new program, one of the first of its kind in the country. It requires that applicants be licensed dental hygienists in Minnesota. This is an applied graduate program as students utilize the knowledge, theories and skills of advanced dental therapy in laboratory and clinical settings. One pre-requisite course or proof of completion of its equivalent must be completed prior to program application. The program is started in the fall semester. The program requires a full time commitment for four consecutive semesters, which includes summer semester. Applicants need to have a 3.0 cumulative GPA based on all college level work. The class size is limited and selection process is competitive.
