Metro State University and Minneapolis College reopen the Management Education Center

In January, Metro State University and Minneapolis College welcomed students to the newly remodeled Management Education Center at 1300 Harmon Place in Minneapolis. The $22.5 million project is designed to provide a seamless education pathway for students to pursue associate, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral-level degrees.

Funded by the 2023 bonding bill passed by the Minnesota State legislature, the building is a key element in the collaboration between Metro State and Minneapolis College to strengthen the State of Minnesota by educating the next generation of leaders in business and entrepreneurship. Recognizing that although 80% of community-college students intend to earn a bachelor’s degree, only 16% nationally achieve that goal, Metro State and Minneapolis College are partners in exploring enhanced transfer pathways and innovative approaches to eliminate barriers for students. Creating a seamless, comprehensive pathway for students to achieve that goal within the Minnesota State system through programming, academic practices, and a physical co-location in the heart of Downtown Minneapolis is a tremendous opportunity.

Presidents Ginny Arthur (Metro State University) and Sharon Pierce (Minneapolis College) welcomed legislators, administrators, faculty, staff, students, and alumni to a ribbon-cutting in November and a grand-opening reception in March to celebrate the collaboration and thank all those involved in bringing the physical expression of cooperation to fruition.
