Metro State University provides New Student Orientation throughout the academic year for undergraduate first-year and transfer students to help smooth the transition into academic and co-curricular experiences. It may take up to three business days to verify successful completion of online new student orientation. Students will receive an email notification to their university account confirming Online Orientation completion.
All newly admitted undergraduate students are required to complete Online Orientation and are strongly encouraged to participate in First Year Experience Sessions to help provide information about involvement, engagement, campus resources, academic success, and the Metro State community. Students with 16 credits or less, and/or students admitted on academic warning, must participate in the required orientation and advising sessions designated for them.
Graduate students are not required to complete Online Orientation, but may choose to complete it as an optional resource to learn more about Metro State and the university experience.
What is online orientation?
Online Orientation is composed of six (6) modules containing what students should know for their academic and co-curricular success at Metro State. This includes modules on Financial Aid, Campus Services and Resources, Locations and more. Modules include Knowledge Checks to ensure completion and understanding of each module’s content.
For graduate students, Online Orientation is optional and can be completed as a resource to learn more about Metro State, university policies, and available resources.
What are First-Year Experience Sessions?
Keep the momentum going and set the stage for success in your first months at Metro State! First-Year Experience Sessions, called Metro Momentum, offer a variety of workshops designed to help students connect with the Metro State community, learn more about campus resources, and develop skills and knowledge that support their success. You can view all of the current Metro Momentum offerings here.
Sessions are offered both in person and in a hybrid format, with some sessions also available through Zoom. Topics are relevant to students who are new to Metro State as well as students who would like a refresher on resources, services, and strategies for success.
Students who attend two (2) different in-person sessions will receive a free Metro State t-shirt!
