Parking

Parking is available at each of our locations Saint Paul Campus offers: -a parking ramp with room for 830 vehicles, including 24 handicap stalls -a courtyard surface lot with five regular stalls and one handicap stall for short-term parking (30 minutes or less) available at no charge. -other surface lots by permit only Minneapolis campus utilizes the Minneapolis Community and Technical College parking ramp. Midway and LECJEC locations offer surface lots.

Parking ramp

Students, faculty, staff and guests at the Saint Paul campus are encouraged to park in the ramp at 400 Maria Avenue. The Saint Paul parking ramp has room for 830 vehicles, including 24 handicap stalls. The courtyard has five regular stalls and one handicap stall in the courtyard for short-term parking (30 minutes or less) available at no charge.

The parking lots on East Seventh Street and by the Library and Learning Center are by permit only.

As a courtesy to our neighbors, please do not park in front of homes around campus; off-street parking is limited for local residents.

Monday - Friday: 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Saturday: 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Sunday: 11:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Saint Paul parking rates

Visitors: Daily rate is $5. Please take a ticket upon entry, and pay at the self-serve kiosk on the first floor as you depart.

Students: Cost of parking is included in your student fees (parking is $12 per credit). Use your Student ID card to access the parking ramp at Saint Paul or MCTC (Minneapolis).

Faculty and staff: Staff and faculty who elect to park in any Metropolitan State University owned or leased facilities, including, but not limited to Saint Paul, Midway, MCTC, Hennepin Technical College, Normandale and the Dental Clinic, must pay for parking per Minnesota state statute and Minnesota State policy. Visit our Service Portal to register for ramp parking access with your ID card.

Handicap parking

Employees who have a state-issued hang tag or license plate may park in:

  • Parking ramp handicap designated stalls (24 spots available).
  • Surface lot between St. John's Hall and Founders Hall (across Maria Avenue from the Parking Ramp)
  • One spot is designated for 30-minute parking only
  • Three stalls are reserved for students but require a pass from the Parking Office
  • Eight spots are available for longer-term parking on a first-come, first-served basis, but require a university parking hang tag.
  • The Seventh Street surface parking lot also has three long-term handicap spots available on a first-come, first-served basis and requires a university parking hang tag.

The parking office will issue the university parking hang tags to employees who have a state-issued handicap parking hang tag or license plate and who are registered to park on year-long basis.

Handicap parking spots are reserved for students, or faculty and staff who have paid for parking from Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Student, faculty and staff hints: Using your ID Card at the parking ramp

  • You must touch your ID card to the card reader or place it within three inches of the card reader to activate the gates.
  • You may leave your ID card inside your wallet or other carrying case; it should still work from within a thin holder. If it does not, remove the card from the wallet or carry case and touch the card to the reader.
  • If you pull a ticket to enter the ramp, you can still use your ID (students and prepaid employees only) to exit without an additional payment.
  • If you need assistance, please use the intercom button to speak with a parking attendant

Event pricing

For all events over 100 people, the gate arms must be set to automatic and the cost is $250.

For events 99 and under, parking vouchers can be purchased for $3 per voucher.
