Storytelling as Liberation: Literature, Identity, and Community Power

In recognition of Native American Heritage Month, join Dr. Artika Tyner, the Office of Equity and Inclusion and the Equity, Inclusion and Anti Racism Council for an inspiring conversation on the power of storytelling to preserve culture, strengthen identity, and advance community change. Through literature and lived experiences, participants will explore how stories help shape understanding, challenge stereotypes, and amplify voices that have historically been overlooked.

This session is open to faculty, staff, and students to engage in this meaningful discussion about identity, resilience, and collective empowerment.

Metro State student Brett King will join Dr. Tyner with a Native drumming circle, offering a unique opportunity to experience cultural traditions that have long served as vehicles for connection, resilience, and collective memory. This workshop is held online via Zoom and in person. Light refreshments will be served for those attending in person.
