Biography
William Baldus, Career Center director, is an innovative leader in the career development field. His background includes more than 30 years of experience in nonprofit, corporate, and higher education settings. As Metro State’s Career Center director, Baldus has built and sustained collaborative relationships with students, alumni, industry partners, and faculty champions. He was the catalyst to a number of major university initiatives including the Career Readiness Project and Metro State’s successful Apprenticeship Pilots.
Baldus serves as community faculty in the College of Individualized Studies and has presented at numerous conferences. He is an active member of the Minnesota College and University Career Services Association and recently was honored with the Distinguished Service Award, the organization’s highest recognition for outstanding contributions to the field. In 2024, Baldus earned Minnesota State’s Service Faculty of the Year Award.
Baldus completed his undergraduate degree in humanities from St. John’s University. He did his field research in Guatemala while earning his master's degree in cultural geography from the University of Minnesota.
