Biography
Kevin Spading is a professor at Metro State University in Saint Paul, Minnesota. At Metro State, he teaches in the undergraduate and graduate program while leading the practicum program. During these years he also integrated both a prevention course for all alcohol and drug majors as well as created an elective course in problem gambling that meets certification standards for becoming a provider in the state of Minnesota. Originally from Fresno, California, for 10 years he was the past director of mental and chemical health at CLUES, the largest social service agency serving the Spanish speaking community. For another 10 years, he served as the state director of the prevention of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs at the Minnesota Prevention Resource Center while an employee of the Minnesota Institute of Public Health, an affiliate of Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Kevin has 4 adult children and 8 grandchildren. Kevin was adopted at the age of nine and 3 of his grandchildren are adopted.
