Metro State ranked 13th in Washington Monthly's 2025 College Guide and Rankings

Posted January 7, 2026

Metro State University has been ranked 13th among 585 universities in the 2025 Washington Monthly College Guide and Rankings, reflecting what the publication refers to as what the ranked institutions "do for the country," particularly in terms of student completion rates over predicted rates in terms of the student body in question. The project, which started as an alternative to the long-running and elite-focused US News and World Report list, has been a champion of the impact of education on social mobility since 2006.

"We rank schools based on their contribution to the public good in three broad categories: social mobility, research, and promoting public service," notes the publication. "As a result, our rankings highlight the parts of America’s higher education system that the Ivy-focused headlines of the past year, and so many before, have ignored."

In addition, Metro State ranked ninth in Washington Monthly's Best Bang for the Buck ratings for the Midwest region, national recognition of the university's long-held focus on providing value for our students and eliminating barriers to the benefits of higher education.
