The Metro State Cyber Clinic participated in the Diversity Networking and Job Fair on September 24, connecting with students interested in building cybersecurity careers and highlighting opportunities to gain the hands-on experience employers increasingly seek.
The clinic’s message to students was clear: cybersecurity education becomes even more valuable when students have opportunities to apply what they learn in real-world environments. Through Cyber Clinic internships, Metro State students work with real organizations on real cybersecurity challenges while receiving guidance and mentorship.
The Cyber Clinic has become a significant source of experiential learning opportunities for Metro State students. During the 2025–2026 academic year, the Cyber Clinic was Metro State’s highest internship provider, demonstrating the program’s role in connecting cybersecurity education with practical workforce preparation.
At the job fair, Cyber Clinic representatives Joseph Dzewonyu and Amir Nuredin spoke with students about internship opportunities and how participation in the clinic can help them develop practical cybersecurity skills. Students working with the clinic gain experience in areas such as cybersecurity risk assessment, policy development, security awareness, client communication, and professional reporting—experience they can highlight when pursuing future internships and cybersecurity positions.
The clinic also used the event to connect with community members and organizations that may benefit from its free cybersecurity services. Small businesses, nonprofits, and K–12 schools can work with the clinic on cybersecurity risk assessments, policy development, cybersecurity awareness training, and other activities designed to strengthen organizational security.
This model creates benefits on both sides. Organizations that may not have dedicated cybersecurity staff or resources receive practical cybersecurity support, while Metro State students gain meaningful experience working with clients and addressing real security needs.
The Cyber Clinic also extends cybersecurity education into the community through high school outreach, hands-on activities, mentorship, and career exploration, helping introduce younger students to cybersecurity and potential pathways into the profession.
Participation in the Diversity Networking and Job Fair reflects the Metro State Cyber Clinic’s broader mission: developing the next generation of cybersecurity professionals while strengthening cybersecurity resilience in the communities Metro State serves.
