Metro State University sponsored 20 cybersecurity students to attend the Cyber Security Summit, providing opportunities to engage with industry professionals, explore emerging technologies, and build connections that can help shape their future careers.

The summit offered students an opportunity to step beyond the classroom and experience the broader cybersecurity community firsthand. Through conversations with industry leaders, exposure to emerging trends, and networking with professionals, students gained valuable insights into the evolving cybersecurity landscape and the career opportunities available to them.

"Providing students with opportunities to attend major industry conferences like the Cyber Security Summit is an essential part of preparing the next generation of cybersecurity professionals," said Dr. Faisal Kaleem, professor and director of Cyber Programs at Metro State University. "These experiences bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world industry practices. More importantly, they help students build confidence, establish professional relationships, and recognize that they belong in this rapidly evolving field. Our goal is not only to educate students but also to open doors that can lead to meaningful and successful careers."

Metro State also maintained a presence at the summit through its university booth, where student representatives helped showcase the university's cybersecurity programs and connect with attendees.

A highlight of the event was the recognition of recent Metro State graduate Mohamed A. Mohamed, who received the VLA Student Award. His achievement reflects the talent and potential of Metro State's cybersecurity students and graduates.

For Metro State, supporting student participation in professional conferences is an important component of its commitment to experiential learning, workforce development, and career readiness. Such opportunities allow students to develop professional networks, explore different career pathways, and gain a better understanding of the skills and perspectives valued by the cybersecurity industry.

"Investing in these experiences is an investment in our students' futures," Kaleem added. "Seeing our students engage with professionals, represent the university, and earn recognition for their achievements reinforces why creating these opportunities matters."

Through initiatives such as the Cyber Security Summit sponsorship, Metro State continues to support the development of cybersecurity professionals who are prepared to contribute to a dynamic and increasingly important field.
