On Saturday, January 31, Team Metro placed third in the 2026 Minnesota Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (CCDC) at Alexandria Technical and Community College. Hosted by Alexandria Tech and Community College, the Minnesota CCDC was a full-day competition where the top cybersecurity programs throughout Minnesota competed head-to-head in a realistic defensive exercise that simulated running live enterprise networks while under a cyber-attack.

St. Cloud State University placed first, Dunwoody College of Technology placed second, and Metro State University came in third. Participating teams included Alexandria Technical and Community College, Century College, Lake Superior College, Minneapolis College, and other Minnesota State teams.

Since all second- and third-place teams from each state’s qualification competition are eligible to participate in the Wildcard round, Team Metro will be participating in the Midwest Wildcard CCDC on Saturday, February 21. The champion of that competition as well as each state champion will qualify for the Erich J. Spengler Midwest Regional CCDC set for March 20–21.

During Wildcard, Team Metro will compete against other second- and third-place teams from Midwest states including Illinois, Missouri, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Iowa, and Wisconsin.
