ANES 7470 Principles of DNP Nurse Anesthesia Practice IV
The course focuses on the study of safe, evidence-based nurse anesthesia care management in normal human physiologic and pathophysiologic states. Anesthesia care will range from preoperative evaluation through completion of anesthesia services including peripheral and neuraxial nerve blocks, acute and chronic pain management, radiation safety, and POCUS. Topics of discussion include care management strategies based on ethical, scientific and pharmacologic principles, safety, quality and evidence-based guidelines and cost effectiveness.

General
- Analyze biomedical equipment and supplies that are pertinent for patient and procedure, accuracy and safety for quality patient care;
- Propose ethical individualized management and monitoring strategies for patients throughout the perioperative continuum specific to the health history, diagnostic data, and medical or surgical procedure, focusing on the content areas as described in the course description;
- Predict conceivable outcomes specific to health history, diagnostic data, and medical or surgical procedure, and therapeutic interventions;
- Evaluate professional team and leadership behavior strategies that promote quality patient outcomes and cultural competence.
- Formulate management strategies of possible physiologic changes associated with anesthesia, medical and surgical care and equipment malfunctions; and
- Apply ethical principles to nurse anesthesia care.
