Badge Required St. Paul Campus Access

You may use your ID badge to access exterior doors that are equipped with a card reader.

Students or visitors without a badge may enter through:

  • Library Building — 1st floor, Door #55 (east main entrance – parking lot)
  • Founder’s Hall — Auditorium entrance, Door #23
  • Student Center — Entrance, Door #01 (nearest to the parking ramp)

You may obtain a student ID in the Library. More information on how to obtain an ID badge can be found here.

EDU 456 Elementary ESL Practicum

This practicum is designed to give students in this course the opportunity to be observed/assessed and reflect upon at least 80 hours of field experience working with ELL students in an urban elementary school as required for an additional license. Students in this course will have the opportunity to thoughtfully apply knowledge, theories and skills in learned in coursework.

Note: Field experience required. EDU 456 is offered concurrently with EDU 656.

Learning outcomes

General

  • Demonstrate the ability to plan, implement and assess instruction and learning.
  • Design well-developed lesson plans.
  • Positively affect the learning and achievement of urban K and/or elementary ELL students.
  • Document at least 25 hours of active involvement with urban K and/or elementary ELL students.
  • Maintain a reflective journal about all practicum experiences.
  • Develop an electronic portfolio throughout the practicum experience.
  • Demonstrate professional work habits as an ESL teacher; and Articulate professional development based on experiences through a final reflection paper.
