NURS 4050 Essential Concepts of Pharmacology III
This course builds on the content presented in NURS 306 and NURS 404. Students will apply core drug knowledge, safety principles and core patient variables to major drug classes prescribed for specialty populations with complex health needs (child-bearing women, infants, children and adult clients with psychiatric conditions).

Learning outcomes
General
- Differentiate major classifications and actions of select drugs used in health promotion, disease prevention, and/or diseases treatment in clients with complex health needs.
- Examine the nursing implications for administration, monitoring, and patient education for select drug categories in clients with complex health needs.
- Explain the dynamic nature of pharmacology and the need for lifelong learning by the nurse in order to provide safe and competent care.
