SOWK 585 Urban School Social Work Practicum Recitation

This course accompanies the Senior Capstone Seminar (SOWK 582) and Social Work Senior Practicum (SOWK 591). The goal of this course is to develop culturally responsive school social workers who are prepared to respond to the unique gifts and needs of students in urban schools. Students in the course will develop the ethics, knowledge, competencies, practice behaviors, and skills necessary for successful and competent practice with students, teachers, families, schools, and communities. The course will be largely experiential and focused on the application of the skills and practices necessary for social work practice with students in urban schools. The course will also help students connect with the realities of social work practice in a public school context by applying the theories learned in SOWK 564 (Urban School Social Work Practice) and the Metro State Social Work Program's generalist social work curriculum.
