Metropolitan State University Foundation was established in 1978 by five alumni and friends with the mission:
To generate maximum public awareness, as well as governmental and private support, for Metropolitan State University in order to assist the university in its development as a comprehensive urban university in the Twin Cities metropolitan area for changing and diverse student needs.
Your private gifts, along with those from other alumni and friends, make it possible for Metropolitan State University to provide a high-quality undergraduate, graduate and professional education—rooted in traditions of academic excellence and community engagement—to meet the needs of underserved communities and the workforce demands of the Twin Cities Region.
Gifts to the Metropolitan State University Foundation support:
- provide financial support
- Applied research/community-based learning
Your gift makes a real impact in the lives of Metro State students and is an investment in the future of the Twin Cities Region. View our 2016 Annual Report to learn more about how your contribution has helped support learners and faculty, academic programs, and the community.
The Metropolitan State University Foundation is the preferred channel for all private gifts to Metropolitan State. You can make a difference in the lives of Metropolitan State students that will have positive ripple effects to the community as a whole. Your gift provides an inclusive and engaging education to eliminate opportunity gaps and lead the Twin Cities community to a prosperous and equitable future.
It’s a common misconception that the State of Minnesota and tuition covers all of the expenses that enable Metro State to provide relevant, community-oriented, high-quality education to students for diverse backgrounds. In fact, only 40 percent of the University’s revenue comes from State and Capital appropriations. Tuition makes up another 38 percent. Your gifts to the University make up that critical balance. Thank you for your support.
