“Lessons in Resilience” offers practical strategies for anyone navigating traumatic events or chronic stressors. Integrating her lived experience with evidence-based insights, Dr. Alvarez-Robinson draws on decades of expertise as a seasoned strategist and change leader. Through personal and professional stories, Alvarez-Robinson models how to grow through loss, uncertainty, change, and the complex influence of our kinfolk.

Each strategy provides practical tips and activities to help you build resilience and grow through life's challenges. Her book is a collection of stories about tragedy and triumph, heartbreak and healing, breakdown and breakthrough. It offers personal and professional stories that inspire, hope, and optimism for anyone navigating life's ups and downs.

About the presenter:
Dr. Sonia M. Alvarez-Robinson ’99 is a graduate of Metro State University College of Individualized Studies. With more than 25 years of experience, she has led major organizational improvement initiatives on a global scale across government, corporate, healthcare, and higher education organizations.

As the Associate Vice President for Strategy and Organizational Effectiveness at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), Dr. Alvarez-Robinson partners with executive and mid-level leaders to advance strategic priorities and shape healthy, productive cultures.

Dr. Alvarez-Robinson earned her PhD in Human and Organizational Systems with a focus on culture and leadership. She holds master’s degrees in human development and organizational systems and a bachelor of arts in human resource management. She earned certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and was previously a certified mediator with the Minnesota Supreme Court.
