Biography
Michelle Palmborg joined the College of Nursing and Health Sciences as an assistant professor of Nursing in fall 2021. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in leadership, transcultural nursing, and holistic nursing from Augsburg University in May 2019. A registered nurse since January 2011, Dr. Palmborg has experience in acute care, including the emergency department and oncology.
Dr. Palmborg's passion for global health has taken her to Namibia during graduate school, Tanzania for a research project, and Durban, South Africa. She began her teaching career in 2015 as adjunct faculty at Saint Catherine University for prelicensure nursing students.
In 2020, Dr. Palmborg proudly presented with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz at the press conference "One Minnesota, We Are in This Together: Frontline Workers Address Worsening COVID-19 Situation."
Her passion lies in cultural humility and dismantling health disparities, encouraging nurses to become citizen nurses rather than focusing solely on their expert roles.
Most recently, in spring 2025, Dr. Palmborg and Dr. Carolina Fernandez-Branson received the Seed Coalition's Presidents' Award for Civic Engagement Leadership. She also serves on the board of directors for BRIDGE to Nursing, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting diversity in nursing.
