
Metro State University, in partnership with Moraine Valley Community College, hosted a two-day professional development workshop, Implications of Artificial Intelligence for Educators, on August 11–12, 2025. The event brought together faculty, staff, counselors, and advisors from across Metro State’s colleges and departments—making it a truly interdisciplinary learning experience.
The workshop was designed to equip educators with both the knowledge and the practical tools needed to integrate artificial intelligence into teaching, curriculum development, and student services. Participants engaged in hands-on activities and real-world applications, while also discussing the ethical considerations of using AI in education.
Key highlights included:
- AI in Action – Exploring how AI supports decision-making, problem-solving, and data analysis.
- Interactive Applications – Hands-on practice with AI tools for classrooms and administrative tasks.
- Ethics and Challenges – Addressing misinformation, deep fakes, and privacy concerns.
- AI Tools for Education – Designing adaptive assessments, course bots, and virtual assistants.
- Curriculum Integration – Embedding AI into lesson plans to boost engagement and learning outcomes.
- Future-Ready Students – Building the skills learners need to thrive in an AI-driven future.
Faculty left the event energized and enthusiastic, ready to incorporate AI tools into their classrooms as they prepare for the Fall 2025 semester. The collaborative, interdisciplinary spirit of the workshop reflected the university’s commitment to innovation and preparing students for emerging challenges in every field of study.
