Metro State University recently hosted students from the Minneapolis Career and Technical Education (CTE) Center for a hands-on introduction to cybersecurity at the Metro State Cyber Clinic. The students are new to cybersecurity and are currently exploring career and post-secondary pathways connected to technology.

During the visit, students met with Cyber Clinic student mentors, learned about basic cybersecurity concepts, and were introduced to examples of real tasks that cybersecurity professionals may perform. The visit also provided students the opportunity to see a university learning environment and to learn about academic programs related to cybersecurity at Metro State.

The purpose of the visit was to help students begin to understand how interest in technology can connect to future education and career opportunities. By engaging with university students and faculty, the Minneapolis CTE students were able to see a possible pathway from high school coursework to university-level study and eventually to careers in the cybersecurity field. Metro State University and the Minneapolis CTE Center will continue working together to support awareness of cybersecurity education and to provide opportunities for students to explore related career fields.
