Biography

Deb KLinnert has had the privilege of working in varied settings with diverse clients and students for the past decade. From extensive group work within a small counseling center to school counseling at a rural high school, connecting with clients and students has been the greatest joy of her professional career. Within counseling sessions, Klinnert focuses on a collaborative approach with clients, focusing on their strengths and validating their experiences while moving towards their identified goals. Her approach typically includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Positive Psychology.

In addition to mental health experiences, much of Klinnert's professional work has been within higher education institutions in Montana, Oregon, Wyoming, and Minnesota. Her family moved to Minnesota during the COVID crisis in November 2020. Kilinnert is working on her doctorate in Educational leadership, with hopes of addressing systemic inequities she witnessed repeatedly as a high school counselor working with some of the most vulnerable students.

Klinnert has two children, one with a significant disability, and both full of energy who never stop moving and keep the family on their toes! They love Minnesota, and it is home for her partner, who is so happy to be 'home.' Klinnert spends most of her time with her family getting outdoors, finding travel opportunities whenever she can and connecting with as many people as possible.
