ESCI 375 Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

This course provides and introduction to relevant topics and concepts in Geographic Information System (GIS), which will prepare students for a career in GIS. The course focuses on teaching students how to analyze spatial and temporal data using GIS programs. By taking the course, students will learn the components of a map, methods involved in constructing maps, the difference between raster and vector data models, inputting and manipulating data, and methods used in spatial analyses. The course consist of lectures. Students taking this course will need to either come into campus to utilize campus computer labs or will need access to university supported virtual labs.
