HSCI 648 Designing for Quality in Health Care

This course focuses on clinical and operational excellence and continuous improvement of quality and safety from the leadership perspective. Process improvement philosophies, approaches, models, and methods are reviewed and applied to health care delivery. Critical communication, collaboration, and leadership skills are incorporated and evaluated throughout the course.

Prerequisite: Prior to taking this course, you must be admitted into the DNP/FNP or DNP/NA Program.

General

  • Analyze care delivery systems, processes and outcomes to identify opportunities to improve the quality and safety of health care.
  • Demonstrate leadership and knowledge of process improvement methods in the design of quality improvement projects.
  • Analyze the root and contributing causes for an error, omission or adverse event.
  • Demonstrate effective communication, collaboration and leadership skills in response to critical quality or safety situations.
