NURS 491 Capstone Seminar

In this seminar course, students continue to develop the skills and understanding necessary to transition from student nurse to baccalaureate prepared professional nurse. Students will engage in lessons, complex case studies, group work, class presentations and other activities designed to synthesize theories, principles, and concepts from nursing and related disciplines to support clinical judgment and holistic nursing care directed toward equitable, holistic health and healing. Emphasis will be placed on reflection and critical thinking to promote scholarship, personal growth and professional identity.

  • Utilize the nursing process to support holistic, evidence-based, equitable, safe, quality, person-centered nursing care.
  • Demonstrate skills in reflection, self-awareness, self-care, and life-long learning to support personal, professional and leadership development.
  • Discuss the role of the professional nurse in addressing political, economic, social and ethical issues to promote evidence-based, quality, equitable, inclusive healthcare for populations from diverse backgrounds.
