CLEP testing

About CLEP tests

CLEP exams allow you to earn college credit by demonstrating knowledge you have already gained through work, life experience, or independent study.

Why take a CLEP exam

Before you register

Scheduling your exam

  1. Register for your CLEP exam through the CLEP website
  2. Receive your CLEP registration ticket
  3. Schedule your testing appointment with the registration form

CLEP schedule

CLEP tests are:

  • All tests are appointment-based—no walk-ins
  • In-person testing
  • First and last Wednesday of each month
  • Sessions at:
    • 9 a.m.
    • 1 p.m.

Note:
Students must bring required items to the test session or the proctor may not proceed with testing.

Test day information

  • Bring a valid, government-issued photo ID
  • Arrive on time
  • Testing is completed on a computer

Scores and results

  • Most CLEP exam scores are available immediately after testing
  • Official scores are sent to the institution you selected during registration
