About CLEP tests
CLEP exams allow you to earn college credit by demonstrating knowledge you have already gained through work, life experience, or independent study.
Why take a CLEP exam

Before you register
- Check with your academic advisor
- Review Metro State’s CLEP credit policy and course award list (if applicable)
- Visit the CLEP website to select your exam and register
Scheduling your exam
- Register for your CLEP exam through the CLEP website
- Receive your CLEP registration ticket
- Schedule your testing appointment with the registration form
CLEP schedule
CLEP tests are:
- All tests are appointment-based—no walk-ins
- In-person testing
- First and last Wednesday of each month
- Sessions at:
- 9 a.m.
- 1 p.m.
Note:
Students must bring required items to the test session or the proctor may not proceed with testing.
Test day information
- Bring a valid, government-issued photo ID
- Arrive on time
- Testing is completed on a computer
Scores and results
- Most CLEP exam scores are available immediately after testing
- Official scores are sent to the institution you selected during registration
