Student Health and Basic Needs

The Student Health and Basic Needs department at Metro State provides resources and support to all students. We strive to address the needs of our students through case management, resources for basic needs, and campus health initiatives.

Our department consists of three main areas of support:

We provide many health and wellness resources to Metro State students including:

  • HIV testing and education
  • Overdose training and prevention
  • Flu & COVID-19 vaccination clinics
  • Self-care resources and support

The Student Parent Center provides services to student parents including:

  • Childcare grants
  • Family-friendly events
  • Parent support groups
  • Supplies and resources
  • Lactation spaces
  • One-on-one support

Metro State University is a Hunger-Free Campus. We provide resources and support to students experiencing food insecurity.

The Food for Thought Food Pantry is made possible through a collaboration with our community partner Good in the ‘Hood. The pantry is open to all Metro State students and their families to access food and resources.

We partner with Kitchen Coalition to provide free restaurant meals to Metro State students, staff, and faculty. Students can pick up free meals at the food pantry or various offices around campus.

Additionally, we provide information to students about the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance program (SNAP).
