University Policy #3040

Section 1. Policy

The safety and security of the Metropolitan State University campus and community are critical to the ability of our students, faculty, staff, and visitors to pursue their educations, work, and other activities in a safe, non-threatening environment. Metropolitan State University will maintain a Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) whose goal is to provide a proactive, coordinated, and planned approach to the identification, prevention, assessment, management, and reduction of student behaviors of concern. This objective of this goal is to best serve the individual student of concern and to enhance their opportunities for success, as well as to promote the safety and well-being of the entire University community. The BIT’s mandate is to use reasonable discretion, based on a record of relevant materials, in order to make informed decisions that are in the best interest of the student involved and the entire University community.
