ACCT 515 Financial Statement Analysis

This course provides an in-depth study of the concepts and applications of financial statement analysis including the supply of and demand for accounting information in financial markets and the uses of accounting information in performance evaluation, investment and credit decisions.

General

  • Understand how data can be used to analyze financial statements through a balanced approach, centered on both performing data analysis and data-driven inferences.
  • Comprehend firm valuation techniques using data analytics and corporate valuation models with published financial and non-financial data.
  • Analyze three major financial statements (BS, IS, CF) for compliance and accuracy using data analysis tools and techniques.
  • Create a data visualization of a company¿s financial position based on reports of publicly traded companies.
  • Evaluate and appraise firms¿ asset, debt and equity balances using data analytics to support investment decision making.
