CYBR 650I Cybersecurity Individual Internship

Students obtain internships in selected areas of study to gain deeper understand of knowledge, skills and the context of a given field. Site supervisors give guidance and direction to customized internship projects. Faculty members serve as liaisons between the internship sites and the university, providing information to students and potential supervisors and supervising the learning experience. Students should contact the Institute for Community Engagement and Scholarship (ICES) at Metropolitan State University for more information.

  • Apply advanced cybersecurity expertise by utilizing technical skills, security frameworks, and strategic risk management approaches in a real-world professional setting.
  • Demonstrate professional leadership, ethical decision-making, and effective communication in cybersecurity roles, fostering collaboration across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Critically analyze complex cybersecurity challenges encountered in the workplace, evaluating risk implications and proposing evidence-based solutions.
  • Assess and improve the effectiveness of security tools, policies, or frameworks used at the internship site, identifying areas for enhancement.
  • Synthesize and integrate key insights from the internship experience, applying lessons learned to a broader cybersecurity strategy and professional growth plan.
  • Document and present technical security findings and risk assessments through detailed reports, strategic recommendations, and professional presentations tailored to diverse stakeholders.
  • Evaluate and uphold ethical considerations in cybersecurity practice, including professional responsibility, data privacy, compliance, and responsible disclosure.
