General

• Critically analyze and synthesize the role of the creative arts as historically marginalized, cross-disciplinary pedagogical tools, with particular attention to issues of equity, access, and representation in early childhood programs serving urban communities.
• Evaluate and compare major developmental theories and research-based frameworks related to visual arts, music, creative movement, and creative dramatics, and justify pedagogical decisions based on children¿s diverse developmental strengths and learning needs.
• Design, implement, and assess arts-based pedagogical strategies that intentionally support young children¿s cognitive, social-emotional, linguistic, and cultural development in complex, real-world classroom contexts.
• Create developmentally, culturally, and linguistically sustaining arts-based learning experiences that respond to the assets, identities, and lived experiences of young children and their families in urban educational settings.
• Integrate and adapt creative arts across the curriculum using multiple models, representations, and culturally grounded ways of knowing, demonstrating the ability to make interdisciplinary connections that promote inclusive and equitable learning outcomes.
• Critically reflect on personal identity, positionality, and clinical field experiences to inform responsive, justice-oriented, and arts-based teaching practices that advance equity and professional growth.
